India - The Land of Diversity!

There are so many opportunities available in India to work with both people and wildlife!  The main objective of the community development work is to improve public village facilities, bring attention and awareness to relevant social issues, and to involve villagers in the same. Or, if you prefer to work with youth, our youth program would have the participants work with the local community for improving the quality of education and care in daycare centers, special institutions, and regular schools.

For most teams, members will rotate from one project to the next each day.  Team members are encouraged to rotate projects in order to broaden their volunteer trip experience.  Program options include:

• Medical/Dental/Vision Care

• Schools

• Community Center & Sports

• Family Care

• Homeless Care

• Residential Housing

• Community Improvement

For those that want to get a little more physical, we offer a sports coaching program.  The main effort of the volunteers at the work placements is to create sports facilities and initiate sports activities for the schools’ students. Sports activities can be carried out during sports periods and at volunteer initiated sports clubs in the evening. The objective is to introduce different sports to the students and teach them various skills and exercises, whereby stimulating motor function and encourage teamwork.

Goa, India

If working with wildlife is more of your thing, Goa - most commonly known for its stretches of white sand beaches - offers an expansive wildlife sanctuary, preserving a natural and sustainable environment for many endangered species. The Wildlife Preservation program allows international travelers to work directly with the reservation’s ranger and staff. The volunteers’ work will contribute towards improvement in wildlife data collection and research, promotion of environmental and animal friendly practices for the local villagers and tourists, as well as basic care for wild and rescored animals.

The Turtle Preservation Program is a specific program in Goa that offers travelers a special opportunity to live in a peaceful tropical setting within one of India’s most renowned beach destinations, while supporting local government agencies and humanitarian organizations aimed to protect the growing dangers facing local marine turtles. The growing presence of tourism and development in the Goa has come at the expense of the turtles’ survival. This program offers participants an opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the area while helping to improve the habitat for turtles – rather than worsening it. The program will include promoting necessary awareness campaigns through interaction with both foreign tourists and local community members. Additionally, participants of the program will assist local authorities guard over and protect particular beach areas that have been identified as turtle nesting grounds.

Romania - Make People Smile!

We are also now offering youth volunteer programs in Romania!  Since the fall of communism in Eastern Europe twenty years ago, life for Romanians has continued to be very difficult. Particularly in northwest Romania, unemployment & education drop-out rates are very high, access to medical care is limited and families struggling with crisis receive little or no help. Homelessness is reality for far too many families. These prolonged conditions have left many of the Romanian people feeling helpless & hopeless.  Come help the people of northwest Romania by working with any of 18 projects that meet immediate, urgent needs while providing long-term solutions.

No matter what your skill set, we offer plenty of opportunities to volunteer around the world!  Check out more of our volunteer programs at www.fellowship.com.
