New Ticketing Requirements Could Result in Seat Cancellation & Missing Air Miles

Effective November 1, 2010, TSA's Secure Flight program will require all airlines to transmit each passenger’s full name (first, middle, last), gender and birth date to the TSA 72 hrs in advance of the flight.
The airlines therefore will not allow a ticket to be purchased or issued without this information in the reservation. So, you have to give a little more information. That’s no big deal, right? Well, it is possible that your seat could be cancelled or you could be denied boarding if that information is not in the ticket record.
This change could also affect your frequent flyer miles. If the name on your account contains initials, your ticket will not match, so you will not receive credit for your flights.
So, the next time you purchase a ticket, make sure to provide this info. And, don’t forget to check your mileage programs!
