A new step-on sensor is being used in Israeli airports to help detect weapons. This new system, called the MagShoe device, enables officials to detect the presence of a hidden weapon without the passenger having to remove their shoes. The new screening process takes only 2 seconds to determine whether the person may be hiding a detonator device or a knife. The newest version of MagShoe is currently being developed and will also be capable of detecting hidden explosives on a person. The U.S. is looking into possibly picking up this new MagShoe sensor for all domestic airports.
