TSA Allows Some Larger Bottles of Liquid

The Transportation Security Administration is now allowing passengers to bring liquid medicines that exceed the 3-ounce limit through check-points. Those passengers wishing to do so must use the specially marked family lanes. These lanes are equipped with scanners that can detect liquid explosives.
The TSA has also announced that airline passengers will likely be able to carry large bottles of liquids on airplanes some time this coming up fall. They expect at that point to lift the restrictions that limit passengers to carrying 3-ounce bottles of liquids, gels and aerosols on to the airplane. Passengers will still be required to remove those liquids from their carry-on bags and put them through X-ray at security checkpoints. These changes to security measures are expected because better technology will enable checkpoint X-ray machines to spot dangerous liquids. Currently, X-ray machines cannot detect harmful fluids or explosives, which forces the TSA to enforce the 3 ounce limit (an amount that, even if explosive, would not be enough to bring down an airplane).
