Are you a frequent flyer of United or Continental?  If you are, you may have noticed a refinement in the visual branding of the newly merged companies.  On October 1, the two companies became Chicago-based United Continental Holdings Inc. –  the world's biggest airline.

The logo, as well as the look, of the aircrafts will change. The tail of the plane will use Continental’s colors, design, and image. The “United” name will have a new style.  Travelers probably won't notice any difference until spring, but the new company hopes to build upon the high value attached to both brands.

The merger will have extensive effects on international customers, including routing and airfare changes. The new airline will operate 5,800 flights a day to 371 destinations in 59 countries throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia from hubs in Chicago, Cleveland, Denver, Guam, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Tokyo, and Washington, DC. Their membership in the Star Alliance enables them to offer more than 21,200 daily flights to 181 countries worldwide.

It will also create the industry’s leading frequent flyer program, where customers can earn and redeem miles on both airlines as well as on any Star Alliance partners.  The new frequent flyer program will include features of OnePass and Mileage Plus from United and Continental.  Miles in both programs continue to be valid and are able to be used according to existing program rules.  Card holders will continue to receive mileage credit when using the Mileage Plus Chase Visa credit card or Continental Airlines credit or debit cards.

As a top account for both Continental and United, Fellowship Travel will continue to offer special pricing for both group and individual airfare on the new carrier.
