No Cash Accepted on Board

Leave your cash at home when you want to buy something in the air. You don't have to count pennies or small change with your debit card (and yes, all that metal has to be taken out of pockets when passing through security). At the beginning of April, US Airways will become a cashless cabin on all mainline flights. They will only be accepting major credit cards for onboard purchases. US Airways will accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover or Diners Club cards. Debit cards will be accepted as long as they have a Visa or MasterCard logo.
Why has US Airways made this change? They believe that accepting cash involves manual processes throughout the system that are inefficient and create added costs. It is more efficient to process automated credit card transactions. In doing this, they will be able to reduce costs and make it more convenient for flight attendants since they will no longer need to make change on board.
The airline will continue to accept both cash and credit on all international routes between the USA and Europe, South America and the Middle East.
