Today, airlines are unbundling their services so they can charge à la carte. They’re promoting the fact that they are saving money for the customers who don’t use or want all the bundled services. New baggage fees first appeared in 2008, and have been multiplying since that time. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, the airline industry collected $1.15 billion in 2008 for baggage alone. Fellowship Travel suggests that every passenger check the airline website for the latest information on baggage fees, frequent flyer alliances, and always stay informed about document requirements such as visas and passports. Also, be informed on medical requirements and protect yourself medically with travel health insurance, as your home healthcare program many times is not accepted abroad. For more information on your specific country requirements ask your Fellowship Agent. For International health requirements see: www.cdc.gov and for insurance see: www.Fellowship.com/insurance. If your current passport has less than 1 year validity, we suggest you replace it before traveling abroad. Many countries have 3-6 month minimum validity requirements.
