Overview

You can also tour some of Romania’s most cherished sites like the Cozia monastery & drive through untouched farmland while stopping to meet local farmers. You’ll even get to taste a homecooked meal from a local farming family & ask them questions about life in Romania.

Sample Itinerary

Day 1: Bucharest – Pitesti

Arrive in Bucharest & meet with your guide who will take you to visit the city’s museum & Palace of Parliament in addition to the Patriarchal Church. Next, travel to Pitesti where you will check into your hotel & rest for the remainder of the evening.

Day 2: Pitesti – Sibiu

Begin your day taking the Red Tower pass to Transylvania, stopping by the Cozia monastery, one of the oldest in Romania. Continue your journey to Sambata de Jos stud farm where you can see one of the largest Lipizzan horse farms. In the evening, visit a glass museum in Sibiel before being welcomed into a farmer’s home for a homecooked meal. 

Day 3: Sibiu – Campulung Moldovenesc

Take a city tour of Sibiu, stopping at sites such as the large & small ring, the Bridge of Lies & the Evangelical church where bishops of Romania reside. Travel to Biertan to see the biggest church castle in Romania followed by a visit to Sighisoara to see the Clock Tower, the birthplace of Count Dracula & the Church on the Hill. Next, you’ll take a trip to Bistrita where you can enjoy a festive dinner with folklore entertainment. 

Day 4: Campulung Moldovenesc – Piatra Neamt

After breakfast, visit the Moldovita monastery, famous for its exterior wall paintings. Next, visit a sheep farm in the Eastern Carpathians Mountains before visiting the Voronet monastery, known as the “Capella Sixtina” of Romania. 

Day 5: Piatra Neamt – Predeal

Drive through the Bicaz Gorge back to Transylvania, driving past Szeklerland’s numerous potato fields along the way. Stop by a cattle breeding farm before taking a city tour of Brasov. Here, you’ll see sites such as the Black Church, the old town hall & the Orthodox church. In the evening, enjoy dinner with live folk music!

Day 6: Predeal – Constanta

Start with a trip to Sinaia to visit the Peles castle, the summer residence of the royal Hohenzollern family. Afterward, visit the monastery Sinaia, built by monks from the Sinai Peninsula in the 17th century. In the afternoon, venture through Slobozia, Valachia & over the Danube to Mamaia. 

Day 7: Maimaia – Tulcea – Maimaia

After breakfast, travel to Tulcea & cruise down the Danube Delta. Stop along pelican-inhabited areas & enjoy lunch while sightseeing. In the afternoon, return to Tulcea where you’ll drive back to Maimaia. 

Day 8: Mamaia

In the morning, you will visit a horse farm in Mangalia. Next, stop by the largest vineyard in Romania & taste a variety of wine. Return to your hotel to rest & have some free time. 

Day 9: Bucharest

Begin the drive back to Bucharest where you will transfer to the airport for your return home.
