Overview

The Moo Baan Dek Children’s Village is a haven for Thai children in need of shelter, food, education, & care. And you can volunteer to make a difference in the lives of these children. Help the staff farm the land, & teach the children how to grow vegetables! Lead workshops on arts & crafts & cooking, teach the children about your own culture, & much more. You’ll also enjoy staying with a host family for an evening in a village in Thailand’s Kanchanaburi province, & visit famous sites in Bangkok!

Sample Itinerary

Day 1: Bangkok

Arrive at the airport, & transfer to the hotel. Spend the remainder of the day at leisure. 

Day 2: Bangkok

After breakfast, enjoy a guided tour of the capital city. Visit the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, explore Chinatown, shop the local markets, & more. This afternoon, attend a basic Thai lesson. You’ll be more prepared for your volunteer project after this lesson! Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant this evening. 

Day 3: Bangkok – Kanchanaburi

Spend the morning at leisure. After lunch, travel to a village in Thailand’s Kanchanaburi province. You’ll enjoy assisting your host family for the evening with their gardening tasks. 

Day 4: Kanchanaburi – Moo Baan Dek

After enjoying breakfast with the villagers, head into town to learn about the history of Thailand during World War II. Visit the JEATH War Museum, & see the Death Railway. After your guided tour of Kanchanaburi, head to the Moo Baan Dek Children’s Village. Upon arrival, you’ll be given a tour of the village & a brief orientation on the volunteer work you’ll be doing there. 

Day 5: Moo Baan Dek

Awake as the sun begins to rise, & head into the fields to complete the day’s gardening tasks. Enjoy breakfast. Head to the village school afterward to teach the students a lesson. You’ll be bringing your culture to the classroom during the lesson. You may choose to bring visual materials from home to aid in teaching your lesson. This afternoon, participate in a volunteer project. Project opportunities include farming, childcare, janitorial work, & leading workshops. Depending on your skills, you can choose to lead one of the following workshops: computer technology, culinary, carpentry, & various crafts. 

Day 6: Moo Baan Dek

Spend another day volunteering at the village. 

Day 7: Moo Baan Dek

Spend another day volunteering at the village. 

Day 8: Moo Baan Dek

Spend another day volunteering at the village. 

Day 9: Moo Baan Dek

Spend another day volunteering at the village. 

Day 10: Moo Baan Dek

Spend another day volunteering at the village. 

Day 11: Moo Baan Dek

Spend another day volunteering at the village. 

Day 12: Moo Baan Dek

Spend another day volunteering at the village. 

Day 13: Moo Baan Dek – Bangkok

Return to the capital city today. Upon arrival, spend the remainder of the day at leisure. 

Day 14: Bangkok – USA

Transfer to the airport, & board return flight home.

  • International flights
  • Accommodation: tourist-class hotel or hostel on shared dormitory basis with breakfast. Single room with private facilities is available for those books for single supplement. Accommodation at the project is at one of children’s houses with the children. It will be non-air-conditioned. Bedding is provided.

  • Misc: Local English-speaking guides and all activities as specified in the itinerary, including admission fees, with instruction where necessary
