Get a first-hand look at Cuba’s complex political system. Students will gain a deeper understanding of how local & national government work together. Meet with members of National Assembly, Electoral Commission & Parliament to learn how they serve the Cuban people & collaborate with other government agencies. Visit local government organizations to gain an understanding of how they interact with & impact their communities.
Expand your students’ understanding of law by focusing on the judicial system in Cuba. There are plenty of opportunities to learn how Cuban law affects its people & its relationship with the rest of the world. Meet with practicing lawyers & government employees to discuss different topics from Cuban-U.S. relations to the election process.
Find out how Cuba’s has achieved a staggering 99.8% literacy rate & the role that public education plays in maintaining that rate. The country’s dedication to education is firmly rooted in their post-revolutionary initiative to empower the Cuban people through free, accessible public education. Today, the Cuban government spends about 13% of its GDP on education, more than almost every other country in the world, but that’s just the beginning. During this program, students will learn how Cuba’s education system has become the benchmark for Latin America. The group will investigate the public school system from several perspectives: student, teacher, administrator & governing body.
Cuba’s focus on prevention & health education has helped it become one of the best healthcare systems in the world. They also boast the third highest doctor-patient ratio worldwide. In additional to medical care, there is a strong focus on mental health & these services are incorporated into nearly every aspect of care. During this trip, students learn about programs that may be directly responsible for Cuba’s 20% lower infant-mortality rate & higher life expectancy than the we have in the U.S. Students will visit several key organizations to meet with local care givers around the country. Through these interactions, they will discover the challenges & advantages of Cuba’s universal healthcare system.
This program will enable students to broaden their perspective of business & government-operated trade unions through an exploration of their evolution in Havana & Villa Clara. Explore the scope of Che Guevara’s influence on the working-class & his effect on how government addresses business ventures to this day. Students will also gain a more personal insight into Cuba's trade unions through meetings with union members by discussing their goals, challenges & experiences.
Study biopsychosocial health in Cuba. This trip’s focus will be to develop an understanding of the life of women & minority groups. Students will visit organizations dedicated to protecting & advocating for women & social wellness in Cuba. Spend time at a maternity center that provides support to at-risk pregnant women & interact with local families to discuss the challenges they face in their everyday lives.
Cuba’s life expectancy is nearly identical to the United States due to the quality & accessibility of their healthcare & social programs. During this trip, students will come to understand the level of care available to the elderly as well as the role they play in Cuban Society. Your group will meet with local experts at a residence center to learn about geriatric care in Cuba. Students will also have the opportunity to interact with senior citizens to learn how they were impacted by social & political changes during their lifetime.

Spend the day in charming Kutna Hora. Just over an hour outside of Prague, this Bohemian city has much to offer – which includes its darkly, intriguing ossuary & the enchanting St. Barbara Church. Your guided tour also features a visit to the Czech Museum of Silver, where you’ll learn about the region’s mining history.
