Day 1: Moscow
Arrive at the airport in Moscow, & transfer to the hotel. Explore historic Red Square, which features the mausoleum of Vladimir Lenin, the founding leader of the USSR. Other highlights include the famous GUM department store & Saint Basil’s Cathedral, a 16th-century, multi-colored masterpiece. Discover delicious cuisine at tonight’s welcome dinner.
Day 2: Moscow
Experience the essence of Russian history & culture today as you visit Moscow’s Kremlin Territory. Discover the grandeur of the nation’s previous ruling parties at the State Armoury. Display items include royal court dresses, lavish thrones, golden carriages, & precious jewels. Next, visit the Cathedral of the Archangel & the neighboring Cathedral of the Assumption, a previous site of royal coronations. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Afterward, head up to the observation platform at Sparrow Hills for a one-of-a-kind scenic view of the capital city. Other sightseeing highlights today include Boulevard Ring, the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, the cemetery at Novodevichy Convent, & the eternal flame on Poklonnaya Hill.
Day 3: Moscow – St. Petersburg
This morning, visit one of Moscow’s most renowned museums, Tretyakov Gallery. Its extensive collection features over 170,000 works of art, including paintings dating back to the 12th century. In addition to the ancient Russian treasures found here, one will also find an array of eye-catching, modern art, from black & white photography to electric-powered sculptures. Afterward, step onboard the train to St. Petersburg. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel, & enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure.
Day 4: St. Petersburg – Tsarskoe Selo – St. Petersburg
Travel to the town of Tsarskoe Selo this morning to see one of the finest examples of Late Baroque architecture, the lovely Catherine Palace. You’ll marvel at the intricately designed Amber Room, a legendary, refurbished room inside the palace. After the guided tour, return to St. Petersburg. Enjoy exploring the city at your leisure.
Day 5: St. Petersburg
Before the doors are opened to the general public, enjoy an exclusive look at Peter the Great’s summer estate, Peterhof. Upon arrival, admire the Grand Cascade, a stunning, outdoor display featuring sixty-four fountains. One of the park’s other main features is the Grand Palace. Inside you’ll find an array of unique, interior designs & lavish furnishings. Highlights include the Ballroom & Chesma Hall. Return to the city from the park by boat. Enjoy lunch before visiting the State Hermitage Museum. Located within some of St. Petersburg’s most prominent buildings, this museum proudly consists of over 3 million items. Highlights include the Porcelain Collection, works of art from the Stone Age, & ancient Greek, gold jewelry. Tonight includes a farewell dinner.
Day 6: St. Petersburg – USA
Transfer to the airport, & board return flight home.
