Day 1: Prague
See what perestroika meant to the Czech Republic as you wind your way through Wenceslas Square, site of the Velvet Revolution in 1989. Next, head to Prague's Old Town, where you'll see the town hall's famous, medieval clock.
Day 2: Prague
Walk across the Vlatva River on the world-famous Charles Bridge to Hradcany town, where you will find the commanding Prague Castle. This large, royal complex dates back to the 9th century, & is home to the Gothic-style St. Vitus Cathedral, the official holding site of the Bohemian Crown Jewels.
Day 3: Cesky Krumlov
Cesky Krumlov, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, ranks among the most visited Bohemian towns. Built on the banks of the Vltava River, the lords of Krumlov founded the castle & town in the 13th century. Highlights include beautifully preserved houses & interiors of the Renaissance, Baroque, & Rococo periods.
Day 4: Prague
Look at Prague's history from a Jewish perspective, starting at Lidice Village, scene of Nazi atrocities in the Second World War. We then return to the Jewish Quarter to visit Klausen Synagogue & the Jewish Museum, which features some of the oldest religious objects in Europe.
Day 5: Karlovy Vary
Visit the most celebrated spa in Bohemia, founded by the Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV during a hunting expedition in the 14th century. The hottest spring, Vndio, is 161 degrees! Walk along the colonnades, drink mineral water direct from the spring, & relax in cafes that line the rushing river Tepla. Your tour also includes a trip to the Moser glass factory, a world-famous producer of Bohemian glassware.
Day 6: Prague – Kutna Hora – Prague
Venture into the Bohemian countryside on the way to Kutna Hora, a town whose architectural beauty rivals most cities in Europe. Highlights include the Cathedral of St. Barbara, the stone house, the gothic fountain, & the former Baroque convent of Ursuline nuns. Finally, we visit the village of Sedlec & All Saints Church, with furnishings made from human bones! Return to Prague to enjoy free time in the town center, or visit Prague's Eiffel Tower & the hall of mirrors on Petrin Hill. This evening, enjoy the Czech Republic's Black Light Theater, where actors & objects defy gravity in a show that will dazzle & amaze!
Day 7: Prague – USA
Transfer to the airport, & board return flight home.
