Itinerary

Day 1: Madrid – Burgos

After arriving at the airport in Madrid, travel to Burgos. Enjoy lunch at a local café, followed by an afternoon tour of one of Spain’s ancient cities. You’ll visit the grand Cathedral of Burgos. Officially a UNESCO World Heritage site, this Roman Catholic cathedral features a stunning Gothic exterior, more than ten chapels, & centuries-old works of art. Other highlights include the pilgrim monument, the Castle & the Monastery of Las Huelgas. Spend the evening at your leisure. 

Day 2: Burgos – Leon – Santiago de Compostela

Enjoy an early breakfast this morning before beginning your journey along the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route. Over the next few days, you’ll travel on foot & by coach from Burgos to Leon, & to the end of the route in Santiago de Compostela. Highlights include the Church of San Martin de Fromista, the historic churches & monasteries of Sahagun, the San Isidoro Cathedral in Leon, & a visit to O Cebreiro. 

Day 3: Camino de Santiago

Spend the day traveling along the pilgrimage route.

Day 5: Santiago de Compostela – Madrid

Upon arrival in Santiago de Compostela, you’ll visit the Cathedral, which houses the remains of Saint James. During your guided tour of the basilica you’ll also see one of the largest incense diffusers in the world, the Botafumeiro. Enjoy a light lunch before heading to the train station, where you’ll depart for your return to Madrid.
