Itinerary

Day 1: Paris

You will be met at the airport by your tour representative & transferred to your hotel. Afternoon city motor coach tour.

Day 2: Paris

Your morning tour will begin with a visit to the Cathédrale Notre- Dame. Built in an age of illiteracy, the cathedral retells the stories of the Bible in its portals, paintings, & stained glass. Our visit will continue to the Latin Quarter; St-Germain-des-Prés, the home of the existentialist movement & known for its cafes; & les Jardins du Luxembourg, the gardens of the French Senate. Afternoon optional tour to Musée d'Orsay, a museum dedicated to fine art, dating from 1848 to 1914, that houses a fantastic collection of Impressionist art. Evening at leisure.

Day 3: Paris

Today's walking tour will include Place de La Concorde; the Opera, founded by Louis XIV in 1669; the Champs Elysées; & the Eiffel Tower. An optional boat tour on the Bateaux Mouches offers a relaxing way to view the historic landmarks lining the Seine, as well as the many splendid bridges, including the Pont Neuf. The oldest bridge in Paris, it dates back to 1578.

Day 4: Paris & Versailles

Today, choose between a day tour to the Palace of Versailles, official residence of Louis XIV in the 17th Century, or a day tour to the Château de Fontainebleau, the largest of the royal, French chateaus.

Day 5: Paris

Today, we will visit Montmartre. High on the only hill overlooking Paris, the area has long been famous for its artists, & its magnificent Basilique du Sacre Coeur. The interior of the church contains one of the world's largest mosaics, depicting Christ with outstretched arms. Afternoon at leisure.

Day 6: Paris

We will explore the Place des Vosges in the heart of the fashionable Marais district, not far from the new Bastille opera. King Henri IV constructed this beautiful square at the beginning of the 17th century. The unified design of its buildings went on to become the prototype for the many European residential squares that followed. In the afternoon, we will visit the Ile de la Cité. The island was the birthplace of Paris & is home to the Cathédrale Notre Dame. Evening at leisure.

Day 7: Paris

Departure to the USA.
