Itinerary

Day 1: Panama City

Arrive at the airport, & transfer to the hotel. 

Day 2: Panama City – Portobelo – Colon – Panama City

This morning, visit the ruins of the Old Panama City. This UNESCO World Heritage Site features part of the city’s old Cathedral. Explore Soberania National Park to observe its fascinating wildlife. During your visit you may have the opportunity to see Three-toed sloths & the Geoffroy's tamarin monkey. Enjoy a stop at Camino de Cruces National Park on the way to Portobelo. Take a walk through Portobelo National Park, & visit the Church of the Black Christ. Head to the train station in Colon later today for your return to Panama City. Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant this evening. 

Day 3: Panama City – Flamenco Island – Miraflores Locks – Panama City

Take a walk back in time this morning as you discover Panama City’s Old Quarter.  Learn about Panama in the 16th & 17th centuries, & admire the district’s charming architecture. Highlights of this UNESCO World Heritage Site include the National Theatre & the Panama Canal Museum. Head to Flamenco Island after the city tour. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Visit the Miraflores Locks, & learn about them at the visitor’s center. Tonight, enjoy a traditional dance show at dinner. 

Day 4: Flamenco Island – Panama Canal – Panama City

Head through the Locks, & cruise down the Panama Canal today. After disembarking the boat, spend the remainder of the day at leisure. Enjoy dinner & an overnight stay in Panama City. 

Day 5: El Valle & El Macho

Shop for local handicrafts at the markets in El Valle. This valley is well-known for its location, within a no-longer-active volcano. Take a tour of El Nispero Zoo & Botanical Gardens, & see the petroglyphs at El Macho Waterfall. Return to Panama City for dinner & an overnight stay. 

Day 6: Panama City – Chagres National Park – Embera-Drua Village – Panama City

Enjoy a canoe adventure inside Chagres National Park, on the Chagres River & Lake Alajuela. The route will take you to the indigenous Embera-Drua community. You’ll learn about their culture & traditions, including which plants are used for medicinal purposes & how. Return to Panama City for dinner & an overnight stay. 

Day 7: Panama City – USA

Transfer to the airport, & board return flight home.
