The ancient city of Rome not only holds centuries of history, architectural treasures, & marvelous works of art, it is the gateway to the center of Catholicism, Vatican City. Visit the world’s largest cathedral, the Vatican museums, & historic sites in surrounding Rome.

Itinerary

Day 1: Rome

This morning, discover the treasures of Vatican City. Visit St. Peter’s Basilica, the largest cathedral in the world & the final resting place of Pope John Paul II. Next, admire one of the most beloved works of art of all time, Michelangelo’s frescoes on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Afterward, head to the ancient Roman Coliseum, which dates back to the 1st century A.D. Walk amongst the ruins of the Roman Forum, & tour the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, which features mosaics dating back to the 5th century. Other highlights include a visit to Castel Sant'Angelo. 

Day 2: Rome

Admire another masterpiece by Michelangelo, the “Moses” sculpture, situated in the Church of Saint Peter in Chains. Next, visit both the Basilica of St. John Lateran & the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls. Spend the afternoon at your leisure. 

Day 3: Rome

Tour the sites situated along the Via del Corso. This historical street features churches, plazas, the illustrious Trevi Fountain, local cafes, & shops. Spend the day at leisure afterward. 

Day 4: Rome – Krakow or USA

Transfer to the airport, & board flight to Krakow (or return flight home).
