Overview

Travel in the footsteps of Pope John Paul II as you journey through Poland. Visit the Pope’s hometown, Wadowice, & the hosting city of the 6th World Youth Day, Czestochowa. You’ll see the revered Marian shrine, the “Black Madonna of Czestochowa,” & visit the church where the Pope held his first Mass.

Itinerary

Day 1: Krakow

Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel for check in. Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant this evening. 

Day 2: Krakow

One notable part of Krakow’s history is its Papal significance. Pope John Paul II lived here before he was the Pope of the Catholic Church, & later returned for visits. Begin the day with a guided tour of the 11th-century Wawel Cathedral, renowned as the location where Pope John Paul II held his first Mass. Take a stroll through the main square, visit St. Mary’s Church, & see the tomb of Saint Faustina at the Sanctuary of Divine Mercy. 

Day 3: Krakow – Wadowice – Kalwaria Zebrzydowska – Krakow

Visit the hometown of Pope John Paul II this morning. You’ll learn about the Pope & his family at the house museum, & see where he was baptized. Visit the Kalwaria Zebrzydowska pilgrim site on the way back to Krakow. Enjoy dinner & an overnight stay in the city. 

Day 4: Krakow – Czestochowa – Krakow

Visit Czestochowa to see the “Black Madonna of Czestochowa,” a Marian shrine housed inside the Jasna Gora Monastery. Return to Krakow afterward.
