Sustainability Projects

Zoëtry Agua runs an abundance of green initiatives, including: multiple recycling programs; composting; diesel, electricity & detergent reduction; beach cleanups; as well as a pesticide-free greenhouse that produces both organic plants & fauna for reforestation.

Conservation Efforts

As part of its #waveofchange initiative, Iberostar opened its first on-land coral reef laboratory on the beach of the Grand Bávaro property. Guests can visit the lab & learn more about the science being used to improve the health of our oceans.

About the Area

Located on the easternmost edge of the Dominican Republic, Punta Cana has an abundance of breathtaking beaches on the shores of both the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. On the Caribbean side, the crystal clear waters are calm & relaxing as they lap over the powdery white sand, a brilliant turquoise deepening to an almost unbelievable aqua. As you move north along the coast, the waves pick up, the sand turns more brown & the water becomes more blue as the Atlantic starts to exert its influence.

The weather along La Costa del Coco (the Coconut Coast) is idyllic, typically 78°F & sunny, rarely reaching 90°F or dropping below 70°F. Rains are short-lived & usually come at night. So, come ready to take advantage of all the cultural, entertainment & aquatic activities the Dominican has to offer. Kite surfing, windsurfing, surfing, wakeboarding & fishing are all local favorites. You can also snorkel, kayak & golf to your heart’s content. Then, let the island’s contagious rhythms turn up the heat at one of the area’s bars, clubs or casinos.

Boats in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

If you’re a foodie, you won’t be disappointed by Punta Cana’s traditional Caribbean & creole delicacies. Similar to Puerto Rico’s version, the Dominican’s Mofongo is made with mashed green Plantains but cooked with chicharrón (pork cracklings) & topped with melted cheese & a garlic broth. For dessert, make sure to try the creole sweets made with milk, coconut, orange, plum & other tropical fruit. Pair it with a drink of the truly original Mamajuana, made with rum, red wine, honey, a combination of herbs & tree bark.

With all Punta Cana has to offer, it’s clear why many just call it Paradise.
